Meet Our Staff
Kelly I. McKinnis, Broker/Owner
Kelly is a Colorado native and was drawn to the Gunnison area in 1991 because of its world-class fly fishing and to obtain her degree from Western State College. After getting her degree in Sociology in 1995 she decided that the Gunnison area was just too beautiful to leave and looked for ways to stay in the valley.
She had always owned rentals in the area and after working in vacation rentals in Crested Butte for 4 years she decided to obtain her Real Estate license and went to work for a property management and real estate sales office managing their Gunnison office for 3 1/2 years. In October 2004 she made a deal with the owners and bought out the Gunnison branch, renaming it Gunnison Real Estate and Rentals.
Kelly had volunteered for the Gunnison County Housing Authority Advisory Board for 18 years, sat on the Gunnison County Association of Realtors Board since 2002, was president in 2008 and was Realtor of the Year in 2008. She was also the Colorado Association of Realtors Director for our local Realtor Board in 2009 and 2010. Since 2010 she has been involved with the Valley Housing Fund and working close with local builders and other groups and organizations to promote and push for affordable housing in the Gunnison valley.
AJ Mani, Associate Broker
AJ was born and raised in California, then attended the University of Arizona, Tucson AZ, receiving a Bachelor’s in Finance and Economics. After graduating AJ worked ten years for a banking firm specializing in business loans, and trust accounts in Dallas Texas.
After having a son priorities changed and AJ wanted a small-town feel, bringing their family to Gunnison CO in 2008. In 2009 AJ bought a hotel and has been managing the property ever since.
AJ started in Real Estate in 2008, specializing in hotels, land, and various retail businesses. Since 2014 AJ has been actively representing sellers, and buyers in Gunnison County. AJ joined Gunnison Real Estate and Rentals in January 2018 and enjoys serving the valley.
Erin Barrett, Office Manager
Erin was born in Salt Lake City and moved to the valley when she was 6 years old. Amazed by the scenery and snow, she enjoyed learning to ski, and going fishing, hiking, and biking with family.
After graduating from Gunnison Valley School, she moved to South Florida in search of different climate and scenery. After being employed at several stock brokerage firms she obtained a Series 7 and Series 63 and was enjoying living the city life. In 2013 she decided a quieter life was in order and returned to the Gunnison valley to continue the outdoor lifestyle we so enjoy and the slower pace that she was looking for.
Erin joined GR&R in April 2015 and continues to enjoy the varied opportunities that working in real estate provides. Erin had a beautiful little lady in 2018 with her partner and looks forward to continuing to show her the wonders that this valley gives with every season.
